| There is a long stretch of road on hwy 40 between Dinosaur Colorado and Steamboat, google. location,"40.433098,-108.279362". It is tucked away between the base of the mountain and the valley. This highway is very desolate and is very dark at night. Around 8pm I noticed a bright red object that was pacing the care about 17-20 ft of the road behind me: note I am a military flight paramedic, 10yrs, 2 deployments, so I am very in tune with situation awareness. I kept looking at the light knowing i had not passed any other cars or even a house that could be emitting the glow. The roads along hwy 40 are very hilly and have curves I noticed that the light managed to follow pace and eve after rolling down my window to see if it was a possible reflection, which it was not, what every the light was was still behind the car. After a few minutes my fiance noticed the concerned look on my face and after i brought to her attention she also noticed the object. it maintained the same altitude. After a few minutes the red object faded out then turned into two bright white lights that followed down the same path. Being the only car on the road I was very concerned, but when cars would pass the lights would dim out before the cars approached then turn back on, At one point I took my vehicle to 95 around sharp turns and hills and after a few minutes of not seeing the objects they seemed to blink on in the exact same spot. Only after approaching a small town, exactly 4 houses, the lights turned off as they appeared. We did not see them after that but for almost 45 mns of being trailed we where very panicked. we noticed that the lights had no reflection on the road surface like head lights would do and if you turned your headlights off you could not under any circumstance see the road or the edge, this area has a great population of elk so this would be dangerous as well. A few weeks went by and jokingly we told the story to an Ex Colorado State trooper. He surprisingly told us that the locals and ranchers have been seeing the lights for many years and has also stayed away from certain back roads due to the eeriness. This was very concerning to me and was genuinely afraid even after being in combat. | |
